The recycling center's pelletizer, a piece of equipment designed to process used paper and convert it into pullets to burn in Eielson's power plant, was the source of the fire. A fire broke out in Eielson's paper and cardboard recycling center Jan. 18, causing the facility to shut down operations. Firefighters from the 354th Civil Engineer Squadron responded immediately and contained the fire, ensuring it did not pose a threat to surrounding facilities or personnel. EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Eielson ICEMEN score on Fort Wainwright Grizzlies at the Big Dipper Ice Arena, Fairbanks on Jan. 13. Eielson ICEMEN faced off against Fort Wainwright Grizzlies in the 11th Annual Interior Alaska Armed Forces Ice Hockey Commander's Cup Game. Eielson went on to win the game 8 to 6.

EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Staff Sgt. Aaron Slay, 18th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 354th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron motions to position the Air to Ground Missile 65 D Bomb to be loaded onto an F-16 Fighting Falcon for the Weapons Standardization Load Crew of the Year Competition here on Jan. 11. The Competition evaluates technical proficiency, safety procedures and overall time. The 18th AMU's overall time was 56 minutes and 37 seconds.
