An Airman assigned to Eielson Air Force Base was pronounced dead at the scene yesterday afternoon.

The Airman, Master Sgt. Joseph J. Williamson, was assigned to the Detachment 3, 1st Weather Squadron.

“Yesterday we a lost a member of the Iceman Team; this is a sad day for all of us,” said Col. Shawn Anger, 354th Fighter Wing vice commander. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and co-workers who have been affected by this tragedy.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations as well as local authorities.
