COLONEL SHAWN E. ANGER

Colonel Shawn Anger is the Vice Commander, 354th Fighter Wing, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.  He is responsible for providing realistic combat adversary training to United States and allied forces in air, space, and information operations via RED FLAG-Alaska, Pacific Forces’ premier multinational large-force training exercise, and through PACAF’s only Aggressor Squadron.  He is also responsible for preparing and deploying Airmen in support of global operations, enabling the staging of forces through Eielson as well as integrating air component capabilities into the US Army’s I Corps through the 1st Air Support Operations Group.


Colonel Anger received his commission upon graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics.  Colonel Anger completed pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas, in October 1997.  During his career, he has held a variety of positions, including F-16 C/D Flight Commander and FTU Instructor Pilot, Luke AFB, Arizona, Initial Cadre F-22A FTU Instructor Pilot and Assistant Director of Operations, Tyndall AFB, Florida, Director of Operations and later Commander, 7th Fighter Squadron, Holloman AFB, New Mexico.  While commanding the 6th Cadet Squadron, United States Air Force Academy, Colonel Anger instructed in the T-52, teaching powered flight to Air Force Academy Cadets.  Most recently he served as Deputy Commander, 3rd Operations Group at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.  Colonel Anger has flown the T-37, T-38, AT-38, F-16, T-52, and F-22 aircraft.  Colonel Anger is married to the former Micki Frens of Fennville, Michigan and has two daughters, Kinsey and Dana.
