RED FLAG-Alaska

Media Coverage

The 354th Fighter Wing welcomes U.S. and Foreign media representatives interested in documenting RED FLAG-Alaska.

Media representatives will be given escorted access on the installation to document RED FLAG-Alaska operations including aircraft launches, landings, and maintenance and planning. Public Affairs will also facilitate interviews with participating unit representatives upon request (if available).

All media representatives are subject to security clearance checks conducted by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and security forces prior to accessing the installation. Representatives must submit the following information:

 

  • Full name
  • Publication name (website if available)
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Letter of intent from publisher
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number (U.S. media only)
  • Social Security Number (U.S. media only)
  • Scanned image of passport (Foreign nationals only)

 

NOTE: Personal information will be used to conduct security clearance checks ONLY and will be safeguarded by public affairs staff.

Interested media must submit the required information to the 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office via email no later than three weeks prior to the start of the exercise.

Major Flying Exercises schedule for 2024

RED FLAG-AK 24-1 - April 18 through May 3, 2024
RED FLAG-AK 24-2  - May 30 through June 14, 2024
Arctic Defender - July 8 through July 17, 2024
RED FLAG-AK 24-3  - August 15 through 30, 2024

*Typical RED FLAG-Alaska exercises consist of a morning and evening training period. The morning airspace period usually occurs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (with the Delta MOAs activated from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.) The evening airspace period usually occurs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (with the Delta MOAs activated from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.). Reference Anchorage Center (PAZA) NOTAMS for actual Delta MOA activation times.

*The Friday before the exercise starts is typically a heavy flying day known as "FAM Day".
