Will the Richardson Highway be closed during the Airshow?
The section of the Richardson Highway along the Eielson flight line will be closed periodically between noon and 5 p.m. It will be open in between aerial performances with the longest closure expected to last approximately 45 minutes.
Is the wildfire smoke going to impact the Airshow?
Currently there are no plans to cancel or postpone the Airshow due to the smoke, but we will prioritize the safety of spectators and performers first and foremost.
Can a Department of Defense cardholder sponsor non-cardholders through the North Gate (Hursey Gate) during the Airshow?
Yes, however the DoD cardholder must also be present in the same vehicle when entering the installation.
What activities are available before the aerial performances start at noon?
Static displays, kids’ activities and vendors will be available before noon; there will also be a short take-off and landing demonstration around 10 a.m. However, most traffic is expected between 10 a.m. and noon, so arriving early is the best way to avoid long lines.
What identification is required to get on base?
There will be no identification requirements for visitors entering through the South Gate. If entering through the North Gate at least one person in the vehicle will need a DoD identification card; all other people in the vehicle will need a government issued identification card if over the age of sixteen.
Will hearing protection be provided?
Earplugs will be available for purchase, but visitors are encouraged to bring their own for ease of use or comfort.
Will the Airshow be recorded?
Some of the aerial demonstrations will be livestreamed. Following the Airshow, a recap video will be published, but it may not show the entirety of the performances so the best place to see it is in person on the Eielson flight line!
Are seats available or can I bring my own foldable chairs?
Bleachers will be available during the Airshow but expect them to fill up quickly; it is highly encouraged that visitors bring their own foldable chairs.
Can I bring my own food and drinks to the Airshow?
Yes! Backpacks with food and drinks are allowed, but no ice coolers will be permitted. There will be a variety of food vendors on-site for those who choose not to bring their own food.
Can we bring alcohol onto the base?
No, but alcohol will be available for purchase at the airshow. But it must be consumed on the premise and we ask that people have a plan for a designated driver to get them home safely.
Will spectators be allowed to take photos and video?
Of course! We encourage all visitors to take photos and videos throughout the event.
Can we bring strollers on the shuttle bus?
Yes, the smaller the better, but we will certainly accommodate any and all strollers.
Will there be sitting areas, restrooms, etc. for people with disabilities?
Anyone covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act will be able to enter through Eielson’s North Gate to access handicap parking areas. There will also be handicap accessible bathrooms available and the first row of bleachers will be cordoned off for ADA guests.
Will there be parking available for motorhomes?
Yes, there will be a dedicated spot for motorhomes in the south ramp parking area.
Are pets allowed?
No, but service animals with the appropriate paperwork are permitted.
Will there be a changing station and breastfeeding area available for parents with small children?
Yes, there will be a changing station as well as a designated area for breastfeeding.
