The “5,5,5” Technique
Walter Reed Army Institute of Research
Video by Christopher Nititham
March 11, 2025 | 1:08
Part of the “Next Time” video series produced by the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, this video describes a technique that can be used to snap out of a negative thought spiral by considering how events will feel in 5 weeks, 5 months and 5 years. Using this temporal distancing technique, individuals can keep things in perspective. This video was created with Adobe Photoshop with hand-drawn illustrations and animated in Adobe After Effects.

(This is a new upload with minor edits and a new vocal track)
