U.S. Air Force pilots and crew members of the 53 Weather Reconnaissance Squadron took flight from Savanah Air National Guard Base, Savanah, GA, September 13, 2018. The U.S. Air Force Reserve 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, or Hurricane Hunters, is conducting a storm tasking mission into Hurricane Florence using a WC-130J Hercules, currently a category 2 storm. The flight tasking provides critical and timely weather data for the National Hurricane Center to assist in providing up-to-date and accurate information for storm forecasts More


  1. This event is FREE and OPEN to the public!
  2. We are happy to announce a traditional airshow will be happening! More details to come!
  3. Ear protection is highly encouraged, especially for children.
  4. We will have food vendors!
  5. Don't forget to hydrate and bring sunscreen!
