Eielson Airman identified, investigation continues Published Sept. 20, 2019 By Staff Report 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- A 354th Fighter Wing Airman, who was found dead while on temporary duty at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland, yesterday, has been identified as Tech. Sgt. Phillip Coley.Coley was assigned to the 354th Civil Engineer Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base. He enlisted in the Air Force in March 2006 and arrived at Eielson AFB in February 2019. “Our team is heartbroken by the passing of one of our Airmen,” said Col. Benjamin Bishop, 354th FW commander. “This loss weighs heavily on the hearts and minds of every member of our Eielson family. My deepest condolences go out to Phillip’s friends and family, and anyone who has been affected by this tragedy.”Coley hailed from Oakboro, North Carolina, and is survived by his wife and two children. The circumstances surrounding Coley’s death are under investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
