EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Eielson Air Force Base has been placed in Health Protection Condition Charlie effective March 25, 2020.
HPCON Charlie is defined as an elevated risk of sustained community transmission. Currently, there are more than 40 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state of Alaska.
The enhanced health protection level brings additional base facility closures, as well as mission essential reporting. Mission essential personnel will be identified by individual unit chains of command.
“We’re going to continue to fight the spread of coronavirus with enhanced health protocols in order to protect our community and mission capability,” said Col. Benjamin Bishop, the 354th Fighter Wing commander. “While the ongoing pandemic poses new challenges every day, I’m confident our Eielson team will be steadfast in meeting these challenges and taking care of each other in the process.”
All other measures taken from previous HPCON levels remain in effect, to include social distancing, health and hygiene procedures, and quarantine and isolation as directed.
Eielson AFB currently has no reported positive cases of the virus.
