In a coordinated effort to bring the very best in goods and services to Eielson Air Force Base, the Defense Commissary Agency is scheduled to host the first Summer Jam here Aug. 4.

The event opens its doors to Eielson and Fort Wainwright servicemembers and their families from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering savings and fun-filled activities for the whole family.

"This year's Summer Jam offers everyone with access to the base a chance to take advantage of exclusive sales from the Eielson Commissary, the Air Force and Army Exchange Services, on-base private organizations and local vendors," said Michael Johnson, director of the Eielson Commissary. "A lot of different people have worked really hard to ensure people here are getting taken care of and what better way than to gather the very best of what Eielson and Fort Wainwright have to offer and share it with them."

Offering the customer a new and interactive way to get the best possible prices continues to be at the heart of what the Eielson commissary hopes to serve its patrons each time they visit their base commissary, said Johnson.

DeCA continues to strive to offer a unique and memorable experience when it comes to shopping. They understand the needs of military personnel and their families.
Whether it's participating in the grill off, water melon eating contest, partaking in some of the event's flavorful foods, or any of the other numerous activities, individuals can have a great time while at the Summer Jam, he added.

Johnson, fellow DeCA employees and other volunteers have played an integral part in creating an environment for the consumer - serving the U.S. service members and their families.
