Party brings wing together for the holidays Published Dec. 15, 2011 By Senior Airman Janine Thibault 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Icemen are invited to attend the 354th Fighter Wing holiday party scheduled Friday from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. at the Aurora Event Center. "Airmen and their spouses are highly encouraged to attend," said Master Sgt. Heather Drake, 354th Security Forces Squadron, superintendent of standardizations and evaluations. "Once they do, they really seem to enjoy themselves." The annual holiday celebration is a good way for Airmen to informally connect in a festive environment. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be available for Airmen and their guests. The Ft. Wainwright band and a local DJ are set to entertain the audience. Throughout the night gifts will be raffled off to attendees. Whether this time is used to visit with old friends or make new ones, the night will not be spent in vain. "This is an opportunity to get together to reflect and celebrate. We had a great year and shortly, we will welcome in the New Year," said Drake. Childcare will be available for minimal cost at the JMC, and a shuttle service will be available from the Yukon Club, Child Development Center, and BX every 30 minutes from 7 to 9 p.m. and midnight to 2:30 a.m. Airmen Against Drunk Driving will also lend their services and contribute their time as designated drivers. "A lot of people have worked hard to make this holiday party a success, so we want people to come out and enjoy the festivities. I think they'll really be impressed," said Drake. Still not sure? There's no pressure, as tickets may still be bought at the event, ranging in price from $10 for junior enlisted to $25 for senior leaders. This is one more chance to kick-back with friends and spend a night with members of the Eielson family.
