Eielson education center offers M.Ed. Published Sept. 26, 2011 By Compiled from staff reports 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- The base Education Center and Wayland Baptist University are now offering the Master of Education program for eligible students. Eielson Education Center is proud to announce the M.Ed. with a specialization in Instructional Leadership. This specialization provides educators with leadership skills through application and provides broad knowledge of social, political and economic forces in society that affect education. Those who wish to further their careers in education and advance into leadership positions will find the program helpful in preparing them for the next level of education. Approval was granted for this site as a result of the 2008 Educational Needs Assessment in which the M.Ed. program was the second most requested educational program for Eielson. The degree program will be offered at Eielson for three terms. At the conclusion of this time, the success of this program will determine if it becomes a permanent degree offered here. Students will complete 18 hours in the profession core area and 18 hours in the specialization area for a total of 36 hours. This curriculum can be completed through local or online classes. Classes start in the winter term from Nov. 7 to Feb. 11, 2012. Registration starts Oct. 17, by appointment.
