Eielson Air Force Base hosted the 3rd Annual Technology Demonstration Day at the Yukon Club June 23.

From ergonomics to data destruction, exhibitors displayed the latest technologies to help make the mission at Eielson a little easier. In its third installment, the demo made it possible for numerous people to view new audio and visual enhancements.

This year's Technology Demonstration Day provided Eielson personnel and Army counterparts from Fort Wainwright one-on-one demonstrations of government and industry using technology to accomplish military missions.

"For my squadron, it gives us an idea of what's out there," said Staff Sgt. Shane Murphy, 354th Communication Squadron network administrator. "We're taking some of what we saw today back to the squadron and seeing how we can best implement it."

Exhibitors demonstrated the ruggedness of mobile electronics, such as laptop computers when manufactured to endure punishment in a deployed environment. The mix of Eielson and Fort Wainwright personnel observed a variety of advanced technologies all designed with military in mind and with nearly 25 exhibitors, potential consumers had a lot to choose from amidst a room full of innovation.

"People have a real interest in what's new and how it can help them," said Dennis O'neill, Federal Business Council director of events.

According to the Mr. O'neill, technology changes very quickly and the demo lets people get their hands on tools that enhance the mission.

"The remote location of Eielson may explain why people seem a little hungrier to get ," he said. "It's nice to see people eager to keep up with technology trends."

Technology Demo Day and similar events serve as an opportunity to update resources to enhance future capabilities.
