Nine Airmen from the 354th Civil Engineer, Force Support, and Logistics Readiness Squadrons processed for deployment to Japan at Eielson's Joint Mobility Complex on March 17.

Airmen departed Friday in support of Operation TOMODACHI. The Icemen will be providing humanitarian assistance in an effort to minimize human suffering.

"I think we'll do great work there," said Staff Sgt. John Burnett, 354th Civil Engineer Squadron, non-commissioned officer in charge of emergency management. "Misawa is already doing a great job supporting the local area so hopefully we can get there and assist the Japanese."

U.S. Pacific Command, in conjunction with U.S. Forces Japan, continues to assess available assets and respond as quickly as possible to meet the requirements requested by the government of Japan.

As disaster response efforts continue in Japan, 354th Fighter Wing Icemen remain mission ready and capable to further assist as needed.
