Shad Eidson 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Pacific Air Forces selected 354th Force Support Squadron for the Major General Eugene L. Eubank Award in the small base installation category for 2010. The Eubank award recognizes the best installation level force support squadrons evaluating them in mission accomplishment, leadership, innovation, management, customer focus, and customer impact. The award is presented annually to recognize excellence at small bases where there are less than 5,000 Airmen assigned. "I am extremely proud of my team for winning this prestigious award," said Lt. Col. Jennifer Allee, 354 FSS squadron commander. The nomination highlights the squadron's mission to provide top-notch quality of life programs, activities, entertainment and events for our Eielson community. 354 FSS members achieved several accomplishments to earn the squadron the award. Airmen created more than 2,000 personnel SharePoint sites to streamline administrative processes for customers while reclaiming 492 man-hours. They processed more than 1,900 evaluations with a 97 percent on-time rate exceeding AFPC's and wing goal rates. They organized 16 fitness and special programs for customer needs and increasing patronage at the gym by 35 percent. The squadron was able to impress judges with their accomplishments; here is a sample of the 354 FSS's achievements: Squadron-run volunteer programs racked up 28,212 hours of service worth $571,286 in Eielson base and community support. The squadron initiated deployed family bowling every Monday funding more than 3,200 games. FSS members distributed $11,315 in Air Force Aid Society community enhancement funds to 350 members. They offered 270 classes supporting on-base programs for day, evening, weekend and distance learning. They started job shadow and apprenticeship program for teens earning a PACAF Best Practice. "They provided outstanding programs, facilities and customer service to all the men and women of Eielson while supporting RED FLAG Alaska and the highly successful Operational Readiness Inspection," Colonel Allee said. "We could not have won this award without leadership throughout the wing and most importantly our customers." The Eubank Award was named after Maj. Gen. Eugene L. Eubank, a highly decorated pilot who served more than 34 years in the Air Force. General Eubank recognized the importance of morale and welfare for America's fighting forces to further the overall Air Force mission. The Order of Daedalian Foundation established the award in 1990. 354 FSS will now compete for the title of best force support squadron in the Air Force, which will be announced in April.
