EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska --  The Military and Family Life Consultant program is designed to provide support and assistance to active duty servicemembers and their families, National Guard and Reserves, and civilian personnel. Consutlants can help people who are having trouble coping with issues of daily life and military stressors.

The program provides short-term situational problem-solving consultation. It normally includes twelve sessions with an consultant. The consultants are Master's and Ph.D.-level licensed clinical counselors, psychologists, and marriage and family therapists. The sessions are completely confidential and cover topics such as, marriage/relationship issues, single-parenting challenges, parenting skills, anger management, grief and loss, separation, conflict resolution, deployment stress and reunion issues.

In addition to the program, Eielson has a Child and Youth MFLC available. Youth Consultants are available to talk to children and youth, outreach to parents and work with staff that care for youth. They can address issues and concerns; such as school adjustment, sibling/parent-child communications, behavioral concerns, fear, grief and loss issues, and daily life issues as well as deployment and reintegration.

Support and education are offered through formal and informal meetings with individuals, couples, families and others as the need arises. The consultant staff are caring, compassionate professionals available to help as needed. Non-medical, short term, consultation services are provided to address issues that occur across the military lifestyle and help servicemembers and their families cope with normal reactions to the stressful/adverse situations created by deployments, reintegration and other stressors of military life.

All of these services are free and confidential with no records kept.
