The second round of fitness testing and implementation of new fitness standards and minimum requirements for 2010 begins July 1.

AFI 36-2905 is the new governing fitness regulation and 354th Force Support Squadron is the point of contact for the fitness program.

Below are a few of the changes:

-The cardio assessment is now worth 60 points. The assessments will be the 1.5 mile run or a one-mile walk. The one-mile walk isn't just a timed test. There are five parts to this assessment; weight, age, sex, speed, and heart rate are all factored into a mathematical equation.

-Body Mass Index will no longer be a factor in the body composition component. There are new waist-circumference standards but the method of measurement remains the same.

-If a member does not meet the minimum 75 points or falls below one of the minimum standards they will be required to attend an enhanced program within 10 duty days of testing called BeWell.

BeWell stands for Balanced Eating, Workout Effectively, and Live Longer. The Health and Wellness Centers have been briefed on additional information to share and new slides and books are provided. The HAWC staff will still continue to offer follow up classes if a member wants their fitness tracking to be evaluated and as the program progresses additional classes will be offered.

For members on a profile, Air Force Form 422 must be hand-carried. These must be directly from the members UFPM. The form must be completed and present on the test day to test.
