Eielson's head Iceman pinned-on the rank of Brigadier General on Monday.

The ceremony led by 11th Air Force commander, Lieutenant General Dana Atkins, was the final step for Brigadier General Jim Post, 354th Fighter Wing commander, to join the General Officer corps.

The process started in March when Brig. Gen. Post was recommended for promotion then Friday the Senate approved and confirmed his promotion.

Brig. Gen. Post humbly reflected on his career to the audience at his promotion, "Ever since 1983 that was the very first miracle that started off a sequence, that just happened to be me being at the right place at the right time surrounded by the right people for the right opportunity."

He also shared his pride in his team and being a part of Air Force.

"Very quickly, with a handshake, a nod and a few words we entrust our lives in one another," Brig. Gen. Post said. "I wouldn't trade it for anything."

Eielson's faces an Operational Readiness Inspection next week; the new general offered his final remarks in light of the upcoming inspection.

"I'm excited as much as anyone to start this inspection and then we can go to the next chapter and the next opportunity and make a massive difference and leave our job, our base and our Air Force better than we found it."
