A note from the commander

Last week, the wing and our base residents reacted skillfully to a water quality issue that threatened the base. Due to mechanical difficulties at our water production facility, our drinking water supply had excessive levels of water conditioner. Normally, Eielson's water supply provides award-winning water to our base, however last week's event was an anomaly.

While the health risks to our wing and families were low, it required a clear response. Water advisories were issued and crews along with residents worked diligently to flush the lines the clear. Subsequently, some portions of the base were flooded as our network struggled with the excessive amounts of water. I apologize for any difficulties or damages that last week's incident might have created. If you suffered damages due to flooding, I encourage you to contact the base legal office to file a claim.

Finally, I would like to also thank the Airmen and residents who reacted quickly in this situation. Without your response the wing could not have corrected the problem and returned to normal operations in such a fast manner."

Sincerely,

Brigadier General Mark W. Graper
