New speed limits imposed at AAFES Shopping Center

EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska --  Since the opening of the AAFES shopping center, there has been some confusion as to the appropriate speed limits for this area. To clarify this, the regulations have been explained below. 

In accordance with the 354th Fighter Wing instruction, all parking lot speed limits are 5 mph. In the AAFES shopping center parking lot, this would be observed when the driver enters the lanes provided to park vehicles. 

Within the large parking complex for the Base Exchange and Baker Field House, patrons have access to two thoroughfares which lead toward the Shoppette, bowling area, commissary or gym. The authorized speed limit for these thoroughfares is 10 mph. This does not include the area directly in front of the BX, which leads to the Burger King drive-up window, due to vehicles and patrons exiting the Base Exchange. 

The entire parking area for the Shoppette, including the gas pumps, is 5 mph. Any questions can be directed to the 354th Security Forces Squadron S3 Branch at ext. 377-1474.
