The 354th Civil Engineer Squadron is preparing for a busy construction season as it completes projects that keep Eielson strong and looking great.

As soon as the breakup season completes, CES expects to have a variety of work begin to repair pavement, replace roofs, demolish old buildings, and fix buried utilities. Some of that work is detailed below and shown in the accompanying map. Patience is appreciated during the busy summer season while the improvements are made.

Below is a generalized list of expected work:

- Select base roads and parking lots will receive crack-seal and paint striping. CES will limit the length and severity of traffic disruption in each specific area.

- Expect traffic delays and detours as crews in the French Creek subdivision work to re-structure the drainage swale and reposition a culvert passing under French Creek Drive. CES will also be doing major repairs on Mullins Pit and Quarry Hill Roads as well as patching sections of Flightline Avenue and North Street in housing.

- Roofing work will take place on the Military Family Housing office, Aircraft Maintenance Supply Shop, Bldg 4280, and Base Supply, Bldg 3426.

- Excavation work and potential short-term utility disruptions will occur as repair efforts continue on utilidors along Kodiak Ave., around the Central Heat and Power Plant, Flightline Ave. from Nose Dock 1 south to the Red Flag complex, and from the clinic north to Broadway St.

- Increased construction traffic can be expected along Industrial Drive, as renovations to Central Heat and Power Plant are made and CHPP's new supply building construction is completed, and at Bear Lake as the parking lot is paved.

- Medical clinic building access will be detoured as its main entrance receives upgrades.

- Parking lot impacts can be expected as construction continues at Bldg 3116, west of Amber Hall, and in front of the base theater as a covered walkway is constructed between the theater and the new Base Exchange Shopping Center.

- Demolition and paving work around the old Burger King, the old BX Service Station, Sanitation Shop, Bldg 4335, and in housing in the vicinity of Vega Circle, Orion Circle, Hercules Circle and at the south end of Coman and Broadway Streets. Housing residents will receive additional information about demolition, utility repairs and new construction as the projects get closer.
