As of June 1, it is a State Department requirement that all military family members have a no-fee passport to travel through Canada. The military member will travel on his or her identification card and permenant change of station orders and DOES NOT repeat DOES NOT require a passport.

It is a common misunderstanding that you have to have orders before you can apply for a passport. You do not need to have your orders to apply for a passport. You only need to know a time frame of your departure.

Passports are currently taking eight to ten weeks to be processed by the State Department and returned to the passport office via FedEx upon completion. Plan ahead and schedule the appointment at least 12 to 14 weeks prior to your departure. If you are going overseas you may also require a Visa, which will add an additional four weeks to the processing time, depending on where you are going.

United Kingdom and Italian Visa's cannot be applied for until the passports have been
signed by the members and are then sent to the consulate for final processing.

If you are in need of a passport call 377-3900 or 377-2825 to schedule an
appointment and to receive additional information.
