A detective, from the Anchorage Police Department, connected to and downloaded 10 files containing multiple images of child pornography from a computer Nov. 18, 2006.

The computer was ultimately determined to belong to Senior Airman Jeremy Russell of the 354 Civil Engineer Squadron. Upon further inspection of Senior Airman Russell's computer, numerous other files containing images of child pornography were discovered.

A general court martial was held on Aug. 26, 2008. At trial, Senior Airman Russell pled guilty to wrongfully and knowingly possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. A military judge sentenced him to one year of confinement, a reduction to airman basic, and a bad conduct discharge. In addition, Airman Russell will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from confinement.
