Red Cross in need of volunteers for Disaster Training Days

  • Published
The American Red Cross of Alaska has declared Tuesdays in June to be Disaster Training Days.

This is an opportunity to begin, or continue your disaster training to be ready to assist effectively your friends and neighbors when that next disaster strikes. Remember: "When Disaster Strikes...Help Can't Wait". Only if we are properly trained will we be ready to effectively provide immediate assistance in a disaster situation.

Commit Tuesday nights in June to become prepared to be a Disaster Volunteer. All classes begin at 6 p.m.

June 3 - Orientation, Fulfilling Our Mission and Mass Care (This is a prerequisite for all future Red Cross disaster training.)

June 10 - Shelter Operations

June 17 - Shelter Simulation (many of you have had the Shelter Operations and been waiting for the simulation exercise)

June 24 - Client Casework - Providing Emergency Assistance (1st Half)

July 1 - Client Casework - Providing Emergency Assistance (2nd Half)

All Disaster Service classes are free, however preregistration is required to insure sufficient number of participants will be attending, and we have sufficient training material on hand. If you are able to attend, please call Greg Williams or Pattie Sovulewski at 456-5937, or e-mail Greg at WilliamsGr@usa.redcross.org.

All training is done at our Fairbanks Red Cross office, located at 725 26th Avenue, just a block off Cushman, on the second floor of the Fairbanks Community Food Bank building.
We are looking forward to a great month of training. Please, JOIN US.
