The annual Retiree Appreciation Day will be held at the Last Frontier Community Center April 26. All military retirees and their families, regardless of branch of service, are invited to attend.

Visitors may update ID cards, renew post vehicle registrations and gather information from a number of post agencies at the Information Bazaar and Health Fair from noon to 2 p.m.

Guest speakers include Maj. Gen. (Ret.) William Matz, Jr., president of the National Association of Uniformed Services and Joseph Montoya of TRICARE Retiree Dental Program. They begin speaking at 10 a.m.

The health fair portion includes cholesterol tests, eye exams and blood pressure checks. This year, the Basset Army Community Hospital Optometry technician will perform visual acuity screenings during the RAD for everyone who wants one.

MEDICARE patients (over 65 years old) who need new prescriptions will be given an eye exam on Saturday (at the hospital) on a first come-first served basis. After all Saturday appointments are filled, patients will be scheduled (on site) for an appointment throughout the month of May. Attendance at the Retiree Appreciation Day is required to get an appointment.

Tours of the Battle Command Training Center and the Physical Fitness Center are scheduled for the afternoon.

Lunch is at the FWA Garrison Dining Facility (Bldg 3728) from noon to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $3.85 per person, payable at the dining facility.

Interior Alaska is home to 2571 military retirees and 161 surviving spouses of deceased military retirees.
