EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Base Level Services Delivery Model is the personnel community's answer to the reality we face in a constrained budget environment.
The Air Force is in the process of reducing end strength by approximately 40,000 members in an effort to save manpower costs and use those savings to replace its aging air frames.
The personnelist's solution to these reductions is consolidation. The goal of BLSDM is to consolidate all base personnel functions into one location thereby gaining efficiencies and improving service delivery. This will impact the way units do business on a day-to-day basis.
The biggest impact at unit level will be the removal of personnelists from commander's support staffs. This means instead of going a unit orderly room to get assistance with any personnel matters, Airmen will contact the BLSDM either via phone or e-mail. BLSDM's goal is to answer any questions Airmen have up front and to save them from making an extra trip, if possible.
These reductions will affect several Air Force specialty codes, including personnel, starting Nov. 1, and will include all squadrons in the 354th Mission Support Group. Subsequent spirals that incorporate the operations, maintenance, and medical group will follow shortly thereafter.
Information and contact numbers for BLSDM sections will be published as each spiral is initiated. For more information, call 377-4905.
