Outrageous costumes, food throwing, ritualistic shouts and dancing to the Time Warp at the base theater are just some of the things that can be expected at the usually conservative location Oct. 26 when BASE 24/7 hosts the cult classic--The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 11 p.m.

Airman First Class Nora Anton, 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs and last year's RHPS master of ceremonies, said that last year's event had a great turn out and was a lot of fun.

"Rocky Horror Picture Show is more of an experience than a movie," she said.
This science fiction-comedy-horror musical film's audience participation is one of the main things that set RHPS apart from other movies.

When RHPS audience participation first came to be, it only involved people yelling lines at the screen.

Evolved by leaps and bounds, RHPS participation today includes costumes, dancing to the movie's musical number to the song Time Warp, and many things to include holding newspaper over one's head in sync with the movie's rain scene.

Last year was the first time Eielson showed RHPS and since it was such a success BASE 24/7 decided to show it again this year.

"The purpose of BASE 24/7 is to combat alcohol related incidents, enhance the quality of life on base and provide alternatives to drinking for all Airmen stationed at Eielson, said Lt. Col. Patrick Reese, 354th Medical Support Squadron commander and BASE 24/7 team chief. "RHPS is just one of the many fun alternatives BASE 24/7 strives to provide."
