Hall of Fame for the week Oct. 12-18 Published Oct. 9, 2007 By Compiled from staff reports 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Staff Sgt. Joseph Antill, 354th Civil Engineer Squadron structural craftsman base locksmith Hometown: Woodsfield, Ohio Years in service: Almost 11 years. Family: My wife, Eden. Education: High School graduate. Previous Assignments: Dover AFB, Del., Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, and Osan AFB, Korea. Self-Description: Like to work and stay as busy as possible to accomplish the mission. One thing most people don't know about you: Turtles are my favorite pet. Hobbies: Finish carpentry--i.e., picture frames, cabinets and shadow boxes. Heroes: My dad. Long-term Goal: Retire after 20 years of service and move to the Philippines. Greatest Accomplishment: Filling in as the NCO in charge of the Vertical Repair shop while half the shop was deployed. Commander's/Supervisor's Comments: "He is an outstanding NCO who is willing to put his name on the line for you, a very rare trait these days. He showed both Tech. Sgt. Sangva Sam and myself around the shop and filled us in on needed information without deceiving us as to how the shop runs. We were the new leadership just arriving at Eielson and his input made a big impact on the decisions we were to make. Additionally, despite having limited experience as a locksmith, he stepped up and took responsibility for these duties when our base locksmith retired. He has quickly taught himself the base lock system designed by the previous employee and has been steadily working to make it a better work environment for the new employee when there is a replacement hired. In my mind, he is a very deserving individual for this nomination; his dedication to the shop and mission are above reproach and he continually goes about his business in a professional manner without once asking what's in it for him." -Master Sgt.
