Airman and Family Readiness Center offers clases, volunteer opportunities Published Sept. 25, 2007 By Staff Reports EIELSON AFB, Alaska -- The Eielson Airman and Family Readiness Center's primary focus is to support readiness by helping families and single military members adapt to the demands of Air Force life and to assist commanders respond to identified concerns and issues. The AFRC, formerly the Family Support Center, designs, develops, and conducts quality of life programs according to base and community needs and capabilities. The AFRC functions to ensure resources required to support the entire base are available and accessible. Airman and Family Readiness Center classes: How to Deal With Difficult People: Learn fundamentals of conflict Oct. 1, noon - 1 p.m. Budgeting and Spending: Learn how to live within your means Oct. 2, 11 a.m. - noon. . Federal Resume Class: Learn how to applying for federal jobs Oct. 3, noon - 1 p.m. To reserve a seat in any of the classes, call 377-2178 Airman and Family Readiness Center on-going programs: Deployment briefings - Tuesdays and Thursdays, singles at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and married personnel at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Pre-separation briefing (DD Form 2648) - Thursdays 2-3 p.m. This briefing is required 90 days prior to separation for all retiring or separating military members. Members must be in uniform to attend. Military Family Life Consultant program - This service provides confidential consultations to Airmen, their families and staff to assist with individual and family issues, with no documentation or records kept. Walk-ins are welcome Mondays-Fridays in Room 308 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Phone consultations are available seven days a week. Phone 388-0483 for consultation. Ready, Set, Grow! playgroup- Indoor fun for children of all ages is set for Tuesday's 10:30 a.m. - noon at the Community Center. Crafts and fun are provided. Volunteer Opportunities: Anderson Elementary needs volunteers to come in for 20 minutes once a week, throughout the school for their "Volunteer Listeners Program." Volunteers listen to first, second or third graders read and help them as needed.
