Eielson to celebrate AF 60th birthday Sept. 14

The Eielson Air Force Gala committee has planned a 60th Anniversary celebration 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Aurora Club.

The theme for the event is "Through the Decades," each group has been assigned a room to decorate with a specific "decade" to commemorate the Air Force's 60th birthday. The best decorated room will win $500.

Cost is $15 for civilians, officers and E-9s; for E-8s and below the cost is $10. To sign up for the event contact your first sergeant by Sept. 12.

The event's guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Rosanne Bailey, who was a former 354th Logistics Readiness Squadron commander.

Attire is mess dress/semi-formal or service dress for military and semi-formal or business attire for civilians.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Fort Wainwright Army Band.

A bus route will provide pick-up and drop off for Airmen living in the dorms and those in housing who would rather not drive. A bus route will be available in the Sept. 14 edition of the Arctic Sentry.

Free childcare will also be provided for attendees. The childcare facility will be at the Ben Eielson High School, starting at 5:30 p.m. and with a pick-up date of no later than 9:30 p.m. The child care will be accepting children 4 months and older, if you will be dropping off an infant, please provide food and diapers.
