Due to recent mishaps while riding all-terrain vehicles on base, residents are being asked to re-evaluate ATV skills and educate themselves on base ATV policies.

* Mandatory attendance at a locally developed ATV training course before operating an ATV - a formal training class can replace the local training.

* All ATV operators must wear appropriate personal protective gear.

* ATV operators must comply with the ATV manufacturer's operating instructions, including, but not limited to, manufacturer guidance on passenger transportation.

* Commanders are required to initiate an investigation when it appears that an ATV operator's negligence or irresponsibility was a significant contributing factor in an ATV related mishap.

"Failure to follow proper ATV guidelines could result in appropriate judicial, non-judicial or administrative actions, such as courts-martial, Article 15s or line of duty determinations, as warranted by (these) investigations,"
