Aircraft collide during training mission

An F-15C and F-16C were involved in a midair collision over the Pacific Alaska Range Complex at approximately 11:05 a.m. June 11. Both aircraft were participating in a training mission. 

The F-15, assigned to Langley AFB, Va., crashed in a rural area approximately 89 miles east by northeast of Eielson. 

Although damaged, the F-16, assigned to the 64th Aggressor Squadron, Nellis AFB, Nev., was able to return to Eielson safely.

Emergency response teams are securing the crash site. 

Both pilots returned safely and are being evaluated at the Eielson clinic. 

A board of officers will investigate the incident. Additional details will be provided as soon as they become available.
