Eielson celebrates Month of the Military Child Published April 5, 2007 By Compiled from staff reports 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- They never raised their right hands and pledged to defend their nation, but they still make sacrifices for their country. The contributions of military children will be celebrated across the Defense Department as April is designated as Month of the Military Child, and the spirit of the event will be felt by military families, including members at Eielson Air Force Base. The following events will be held throughout the month of April in honor of military children: April 13--The youth center is hosting a free triple play sports 3 p.m. in the youth center gym. For more information, call 377-3194. April 13--The community center is hosting a free customer appreciation bounce mania from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. (Every Thursday the community center hosts a free preschool bounce mania from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) For more information, call 377-2642. April 19 --The child development center will host a free open house for parents and prospective parents from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Family portraits may be taken for package pricing. For more information, call 377-3237. April 20--The child development center is holding school spring pictures for package prices all day. Children can get individual portraits taken. For more information, call 377-3237. April 20--The youth center is hosting a free triple play sports 3 p.m. in the youth center gym. For more information, call 377-3194. April 20--The youth center is hosting a kid's night out crazy carnival night from 6:30 to 11 p.m. in the youth center gym. Cost is $5. For more information, call 377-3194. April 21--The youth center is hosting a free knit-a-thon from 1 to 5 p.m. Celebrate National Youth Service Day by knitting and crocheting to benefit residents of Pioneer Home. April 24--The school age program is hosting a progressive dinner and open house 4 to 6 p.m. Parents can tour the facility 4 to 5 p.m. during open house and at 5 p.m. children will serve families dinner.
