PRESS RELEASE Update: F-15 incident at Eielson AFB

An aircraft incident occurred with a F-15 today around 9:30 A.M. during an aborted takeoff. The incident site is on base and no personnel were injured.

Emergency response personnel immediately responded. Some military aircraft were temporarily diverted to Fairbanks International Airport.

The safety and well-being of all Team Eielson personnel, Red Flag-Alaska participants, and the community remain the base’s top priority.

“We are glad to report there were no injuries during this incident, and our Team Eielson first responders handled the situation quickly, efficiently and professionally,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Matthew Johnston, 354th Fighter Wing commander. “We are working to resolve this incident and look forward to continued cooperation as we continue executing Red Flag–Alaska 26-2 over the next two weeks.”
