For the first time in eight years, Eielson will hold an Air Force Ball. The Air Force Ball is typically an annual Air Force-wide tradition to celebrate the heritage and history of the Air Force and to mark the Air Force birthday.

Eielson's Air Force Ball will begin Oct. 4 with social hour starting at 6 p.m. and dinner to start shortly after at 7 p.m. at the Westmark Hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska.

This year's theme is "Faithful to a Proud Heritage." Retired Chief Master Sgt. Scott Dearduff will be the guest speaker.

"I know every Airman has spoken the words 'Faithful to a Proud Heritage' as part of the Airman's Creed and our committee decided those words were fitting - it shows our loyalty and pride to the United States Air Force and its heritage," said Master Sgt. Willie Moody, the chairman of the Air Force Ball committee.

Childcare will be provided to allow Airmen and guests to attend the ball. However, childcare providers cannot accept children younger than two years of age and alternate arrangements should be made.

The required evening attire for all active-duty personnel is mess dress or the semi-formal uniform. Formal wear is appropriate for civilian attendees.

Tables will be marked with each guest's name and meal choice. The hotel will provide bar drinks to those 21 years of age or older and will only accept cash.

"I think it's going to be a great opportunity to celebrate our Air Force heritage and just enjoy the evening," said Chief Master Sgt. Michael Brown, the 354th Fighter Wing command chief. "This is really going to be a great opportunity for Eielson and I'm excited to celebrate with the Icemen."

Discounted rooms will be available for the night. Attendees can make reservations by calling 800-544-0970 or booking online at www.westmarkhotels.com using the code EAFBB100414. All reservations must be made by Sept. 26.
