Why is serving in the Air Force important to you? Serving in the Air Force is important to me because I feel it’s my duty to serve my country. I was raised in a military family and was taught that freedom isn’t free. Maintaining freedom requires sacrifice and hard work. I wanted to serve my country like those before me, so I chose to do so in the branch with one of the best reputations for helping its service members in return; the U.S. Air Force.
What moment or accomplishment as a member of the Iceman Team are you most proud of and why? My proudest moment was being able to help someone who was going through a rough time and was in urgent need of care. Afterward, I assisted in creating a flowchart that would be used in case a patient contacted the MDG with thoughts of harming themselves or others. The flowchart would get them the quickest and best care we offer.
What is your favorite part of your job? I really enjoy every aspect of my job. I love to help anyone and everyone. One of my favorite parts is the opportunity to go to each unit and do outreach. This increases morale and mental health awareness to the units. It helps to discourage the stigma associated with mental health and informs the squadrons of the services we can offer them.
Who inspires you and why? The person who inspires me most is my mental health officer in charge, Capt. Brock McNabb. McNabb was enlisted in both the Marines and Army before commissioning into the Air Force. He inspires and motivates me to work hard and he advocates for those around him, including the Airmen who work for him. He is, in my opinion, a true leader and someone who I aspire to be like.
What's your favorite part about being in Alaska? My favorite part of being in Alaska is the community. The base has been very good to my wife and I. I love the nature aspect of the area and I couldn’t think of a better first base to start my Air Force career.
