Members of the 354th Fighter Wing were appointed to a lead a new innovation startup for the base, Oct. 17, 2019.

The innovation startup, named “Iceman Spark,” will be led by the following panel: Staff Sgt. Nick Cavanaugh as the Chief Pioneering Evangelist; Tech. Sgt. Matthew Dobbins as the Vice Pioneering Evangelist; Tech. Sgt. Calin Cronin as the Chief of Networking and Communication; Master Sgt. Michael Garcia as the Chief of Education and Outreach; and Tech. Sgt. Phillip Barry as the executive assistant.

“The Iceman Spark council is looking to engage with entrepreneurs across Eielson to bridge the gap between tactical level innovations and corporate partner solutions,” said Dobbins.

The executive council and members of Iceman Spark underwent training with AFWERX Spark director, Maj. Tony Perez, to assist in jump starting the fighter wing’s chapter.

“We learned to connect, coach, and commit,” said Cronin. “We are postured to connect Icemen with the resources they need and coach them through innovation processes while continuously committing to further large projects beyond local problem-sets.”

Iceman Spark officially launched as an enterprise Oct. 18, during the wing community club day and met with their primary "investor," Col. Benjamin Bishop, the 354th FW commander.
