Team Eielson recently welcomed a privatized housing resident advocate for service members and their families living in on-base privatized housing.

Ms. Diana Keener works directly for wing leadership and serves as the liaison between privatized housing residents, the Military Housing Office, the privatized housing project owner and the installation commander, for issues pertaining to privatized housing residents rights and advocacy.

The Air Force established privatized housing resident advocate positions across Air Force installations in an effort to improve privatized housing customer service and quality with focus of gaining residents trust and confidence in the privatized housing program. The new positions follow the signing of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative Tenant Bill of Rights, which ensures on-base residents are receiving proper treatment and quality housing from the Air Force partners that operate privatized housing.

“My goal is to maximize mission readiness by fostering a culture which ensures service members and their families live in safe, healthy, and secure housing”, said Keener. “It is of the utmost importance that we support Airman and their families so that they are able to execute their day-to-day missions to the best of their abilities without unnecessary stressors at home.”

She encourages housing residents to be proactive by identifying their housing needs as soon as they happen and contacting Corvias for corrective action.

“I’m here to assist service members and their families residing in privatized housing who are seeking solutions to their complex housing-related issues, concerns and unresolved needs,” said Keener. “It is important that we give our privatized housing partner an opportunity to address your concerns.”

“When housing residents encounter challenges with their home, they need to initially contact Corvias for assistance,” said Keener. “However, if residents are not satisfied with the service, they should contact the 354th Civil Engineering Squadron, Military Housing Office at (907) 377-1840, most concerns brought to their attention can usually be resolved quickly.  If they still require assistance to resolve any issues, they can contact me at (907) 377-1791.”

The Military Housing Office routinely checks in with residents to ensure satisfaction is achieved with change of occupancy maintenance, which is performed before initially moving into housing, as well as completion of service call requests made to Corvias.  While the Military Housing Office’s duties also include resident referral and privatized housing compliance oversight, the resident advocate reports directly to the 354th Fighter Wing leadership with primary duties of advocating on the military residents behalf and to voice issues directly to wing leadership.

In addition to the new position, the Resident Council is being established with representatives from each of the seven housing neighborhoods to discuss housing health and safety concerns, identify community improvements and present solutions for problems to installation’s leadership, Corvias, and the Military Housing Office element chief, and are in regular communication with the privatized housing resident advocate.

“The first resident council meeting is scheduled for Dec 15, 2020. The resident council will meet quarterly and is your representative to voice any concerns as well,” said Keener.  “In the coming months, we will be hosting neighborhood meetings on-line to facilitate communication with neighbors and their designated representatives.”
