Senior Airmen Nicholas Crissman and Derek White, Airman 1st Class Darryl Gulley install squibs into chaff countermeasure sticks August 13, 2010, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The squib provides the explosive charge needed to fire the chaff out of the aircraft. Each of Eielson's Aggressors fly 30 to 60 sticks of chaff on every mission. Some of the TDY units fly double that amount. The 354th Munitions Flight can go through six thousand sticks a week during a typical Red Flag exercise. Airman Kevin Gibson counts 20mm ammunition August 13, 2010, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Units at Eielson on temporary duty bring their allocation with them and can expend over 20,000 rounds during a typical Red Flag-Alaska exercise.
