GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba -- Air Force Staff Sgt. J.T. Peacock, a chaplain's assistant assigned to Joint Task Force Guantanamo, hands out greeting cards to Spc. Harlly Caravallo (left) and Spc. Tony Vargas (right) May 10. Both Caravallo and Vargas are mobilized Puerto Rico National Guardsman with Bravo 296th Military Police Company, which is part of JTF Guantanamo. The cards were sent as part of care packages from citizens back in the United States to provide deployed servicemembers with helpful items and ease the stresses of their deployment. JTF Guantanamo provides safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released by a court. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of Military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations.
