Eielson Hawg dismantled
EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska--The inactive A-10A Arctic Hawg is towed toward the C-5 Galaxy for transport to the Robins AFB, Ga. Museum of Aviation Flight and Technology Center Oct. 6 on the flightline. The A-10 is the last of Eielson's Arctic Hawgs to leave base, being inactivated in 1996 due to the Air Force's need for ground trainers, and has been used for weapon's ground training ever since.
