Deployed Corner: Manas AB, Kyrgyzstan

MANAS AIR BASE, Kyrgyzstan--Airman 1st Class Daniel Coomer, 354th Fighter Wing chaplain's assistant, currently deployed to the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing chapel staff, hugs a babushka Sept. 23 at a resturaunt in down town Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Airman Coomer and his coworkers routinely take a group of babushkas to lunch, bring them items such as food and toiletries and give them a $10 stipend per month. The grandmothers live on their own because if they went to a nursing home in Kyrgyzstan, they would be mistreated, the Manas AB chapel staff helps them live on their own. The babushkas are one of 10 different organizations the Manas chapel staff contribute to on a regular basis, to include multiple orphanages and community-oriented organizations. (courtesy photo)
