Honoring Those Who Are Never Forgotten
EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska - Members of the 354th Fighter Wing base honor guard await to perform the folding of the flag ceremony at the Prisoner of War and Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Recognition Day retreat ceremony at Heritage Park on September 21, 2007. The ceremony was a base-wide function honoring all POW/MIA. Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition Day are held across the country on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans' facilities. This observance is one of six days throughout the year that Congress has mandated the flying of the National League of Families' POW/MIA flag.
