Fuels Management

EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Senior Airman John Lind, 354th Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels management flight, performs a color in particulate assessment May 24 in the fuels management laboratory. Airman Lind is rinsing a single weight minitor (essentially, a fuel filter) with ether, a highly flammable solvent that removes fuel from the filter, to better see the fuel particulates of the solid contamination. This process uses a vacuum inside a fume hood to ensure safety from these highly flammable and toxic substances. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Rachel Walters)
