TACP tests new field equipment

Gregory Burnett observes Senior Airman Nicholas Halladay use a new cocom-x communication equipment, which is one device that takes the place of three different radio systems, May 5, 2008, at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska during Northern Edge 08 exercise. Tactical Air Control Party Airmen are helping test the new experimental equipment in the field. After several tests, they are providing feedback on how the equipment worked if any improvements could be made before the equipment will be used in combat situations years from now. Northern Edge is a joint training exercise hosted by Alaskan Command and is one of a series of U.S. Pacific Command exercises that prepare joint forces to respond to crises in the Asian Pacific region. Airman Halladay is a TACP assigned to Detachment 1, 3rd Air Support Operation Squadron from Fort Richardson, Alaska. Mr. Burnett is an Air Force Civilian from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
