Senior Airman Nicholas Halladay, assigned to Detachment 1, 3rd Air Support Operation Squadron from Fort Richardson, Alaska, tests out a new head mounted display screen attached to a MR-1 computer May 5, 2008 at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska during Exercise Northern Edge 08. The system helps controllers see information from the computer while also enabling them to see down range. Tactical Air Control Party Airmen are helping test new experimental equipment in the field. After several tests, they are providing feedback on how the equipment worked and if any improvements could be made before the equipment will be used in combat situations years from now. Northern Edge is a joint training exercise hosted by Alaskan Command and is one of a series of U.S. Pacific Command exercises that prepare joint forces to respond to crises in the Asian Pacific region.
