Being prepared beats being rescued

Mr. Dan Tempel holds his wife Ellie after retelling the story of his night stranded outside in the Alaska wilderness in February. Providing his wife with the full details of his trip plan led 354th Security Forces Squadron members almost straight to his location. Bringing the proper personal equipment and being prepared for the unknown allowed Mr. Tempel to survive the night and almost return on his own abilities. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt.
