Airman 1st Class Alexandre Leseur confirms his measurement was at least 60 inches of ice before moving on to the next location Dec. 23, 2008, in Fairbanks, Alaska. The ice bridge takes six to 10 weeks to complete in usually sub-zero weather. The ice bridge is actually a series of ice plateaus five-feet deep, 32 miles long and capable of supporting more than 110 tons -- and will melt back into the river as spring thaw hits.
