A KC-135 Stratotanker sits ready for takeoff Nov. 1, 2008 at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Tanker aircraft and the aerial refueling they provide enhance the Air Force's capability to move forces with fewer aircraft.The mission of the 168th ARW is to train and equip KC-135R combat crews to provide air refueling in support of Pacific Air Forces operations and world-wide refueling tasks as well as alert tankers and crews to support Alaska North American Aerospace Defense Command region plans and Joint Chiefs of Staff directed.
