NASA takes to the skies for ARISE
A modified NASA C-130 Hercules research aircraft flies over Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Sept. 17, 2014. The C-130 was being used by NASA scientists and engineers to quantify ice elevation, incoming sunlight, outgoing infrared radiation and various cloud properties to better understand climate impact on Arctic sea ice and glaciers during an Arctic Radiation - IceBridge Sea and Ice Experiment (ARISE) mission.
